Keep The Dell Free

The first thing we need to keep in mind, is that we believe that this could be a positive project, that will be to the benefit of Hitchin residents, It's just in the wrong place.

So lets be positive - the best way we can help is by finding a better place to build this project, and convincing the developers that they need to do this.

If you own land, or are aware of public land that would suite this project, let us know and we'll let the organisers of the Jump project know. Or just talk to them directly.

They are looking for a place that is

  • outside
  • it's surroundings give it a "cut-off feel" which is conducive to group activities / bonding.
  • accessible
  • has or could have parking

But think outside the box. They are talking about quite large budgets. There's nothing to stop them planting trees. Maybe they could create a fake forest in a aircraft hanger and gain all weather usage. Give us your suggestions. Give them your suggestions.

Alternative Sites

Current suggestions we have had include:

  • The Priory
  • Blue Harts
  • King Georges playing fields
  • Fairlands Valley
  • Butts Close (by the swimming pool)
  • Ransom's Recreation Ground

but we are sure there are a lot more places around that would be suitable. Please let us know of any you can think of.

Likewise, if you feel about any of the above areas in the same way as we feel about The Dell, then let us know that too.

or just drop it through the door of Club 85 (Glyn is also accepting them if you see him)

You can also download a copy of our Don't Jump flyer as A4 to display or our flyer as A6 to hand out.

Note - because these are exactly A4 sized - you may need to put them into a graphics package, or use picture viewer to print them.

On a PC, the easiest way to do this is

  1. Right click the link, and use 'save as' to download to your computer.
  2. double click the file when it has downloaded - this will open the file in picture viewer
  3. right click the image and select print

if your printer does not print right up to the edges of the paper select the option to scale to the size of the page.

Most of all, please Don't Jump! Think about what we will all lose, and how this project will effect The Dell when they surround it in a security fence. The Dell is an area of outstanding local beauty, even if it is sometimes untidy, and it should remain free for all of Hitchins residents to use.
